Hey zrythm author,

I really like your DAW but i see that its not popular. None of my producer friends have ever heard of it. I realky like the automation capability, but its sad to know that very few know about it. I was wondering if you could create a discord server where's its users could hangout and talk about its usage - none of my friends even know what IRC means. Also, i think lists.sr.ht interface for discussion is kinda hard - isnt sr.ht primarily for developers? Personally i think a reddit/discourse community would be better.

these are just suggestions that i think would help zrhythm's development and popularity. Sorry if they sound a bit opinionated.

Hi,

>I was wondering if you could create a discord server where's its users

See https://stallman.org/discord.html . You're free to make an
unofficial server but I can't in good faith recommend anyone to join
discord.

>none of my friends even know what IRC means

Matrix is more user friendly and does everything discord can. Element
is a user friendly client that runs on web, android, ios and desktop:
https://element.io/

Our main channel is on our website:
https://matrix.to/#/#zrythmdaw:matrix.org

There is also an unofficial Rocket chat room in unfa's server:
https://chat.unfa.xyz

>Also, i think lists.sr.ht interface for discussion is kinda hard -

I don't think sending an email is hard. If someone can't even send or
reply to an email I don't think they would be able to run a DAW.

Email has the advantange that it's simple, permanent, less prone to
censorship and decentralized. If theoretically sourcehut goes down
tomorrow or decides to "cancel" someone the emails remain and we can
easily migrate to another mailing list.

>discourse

We used to have a discourse forum but I took it down a few days ago
because it's a pain to maintain and no one used it. If you prefer a
forum over chat/email then we can maybe arrange for a Zrythm forum in
linuxmusicians.com. Let me know if you think this is a good idea.

>reddit

Someone already made an unofficial reddit, feel free to join if you
prefer that but we're not affiliated with it.

In any case, bug reports and future requests should go on sourcehut to
help us keep things organized ( https://sr.ht/~alextee/zrythm/trackers
).

I second the motion to never use discord!

Also seconded, and I'd add, if your MUA doesn't support the standard
feature set for conversation threading, you probably want a different MUA.

There's also kvraudio.com. I reckon that's the first place a lot of
musicians would go looking for a Zrythm forum.

That's a good idea, although I'm not sure if they'd give us a forum at
this stage. The other "official company forums" they have seem to be
established names, but doesn't hurt to ask if we really need one.

Judging from current online presence and discussions I'd say it's too
early. Maybe I can ask after beta is released at least.
