Woof also has such syntax described in "Search" section in
https://tracker.orgmode.org/howto
A button or maybe background text like in https://lists.sr.ht/~bzg/woof
would indeed be helpful.

Oh, thanks. And I figured you moved off emacs-devel by accident, but I
guess we're having this conversation on sourcehut?

Very much.
And looking at the Search howto in Woof, it seems mumi's allowed search
conditions is a little richer: https://issues.guix.gnu.org/help#search
Not sure if that is because one is a bug tracker frontend (for a basic
one, but still), and another is a mailing list indexer.
Anyway, also about the howto page: it could use a bunch of anchors, so
that one could link directly to a section, like Search.

Sorry, I forgot to put a notice that I converted this into Woof! feature
request (https://woof.bzg.fr/source/woof/requests?sorting-by=date) and
dropped emacs-devel as this branch of the discussion does not seem even
remotely relevant to the already too off-topic discussion there.

Agree. It would be nice to be able to filter threads by
is:open/is:acked/is:canceled/etc
date: selector also looks useful.

Agree.
