I've come across your post whilst looking for the exact opposite but
couldn't stop noticing that you're running Freenas on less than 8GB of
RAM.

So this is just a heads-up to Never.Ever.Ever.Ever.Ever.EVER! run
Frennas on less than 8GB of RAM. It's known to fail when you least
expect it.

Having said that, it's very easy to build your own 4-bay small box
Freenas on custom hardware with a low powered celeron processor
(N3150, J3455, J5005 ITX mobos) in the whereabouts of 250€ if you want
to go for something more reliable with bigger RAM capacity.

Give me a shout for hints on small ITX form factor boxes if you're interested.
