Its a difficult line to walk.

Theres a game idea i have in my head that
takes place during an significant moment
in local history.

I want the players to be ordinary citizens
living their lives while things happen
around them. Yet I want them at a
distance from the events so as to not be
properly involved in them. The danger of
the player being involved directly is that it
becomes an obvious power story which
has kinda been a done thing already.

It just feels hard to have the players close
enough to events to be meaningful yet
also at a distance but not so much it isn’t meaningful.

The goal of the game is really to teach
people a bit about the events that
happened but allowing them to tell their
own story.

It’s an odd one.
