Hi. I need wlsunset -v or --version to show me the version so I can update if it's needed but it seems that currently there isn't anyway to check the running version of wlsunset. Thanks!

Can't your package manager provide this information?

Indeed, a package manager can normally report this if used. However, I have added a -v flag to master as it is pretty standard to have. It is only useful for comparing released versions as there is no commit information at the current time, just the version number (still 0.1.0).
