My wish-list for the nex YAML 11 days ago

From Matthias Maurberger to ~sircmpwn/public-inbox

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but I just came across the KDL
Document Language https://kdl.dev which seems to check a lot of (all?)
the boxes. I just skimmed over the spec[1] so maybe I'm missing
something.

BARE draft 5 months ago

From Matthias Maurberger to ~sircmpwn/public-inbox

I'm currently implementing a BARE encoder and came across some minor
inconsistencies in the current draft while writing tests against
the examples in Appendix B:

    Customer James Smith

address: "123 Main Street"
"123 Main St" encoded in message

    Employee Tiffany Doe

address: "123 Main Street"
"123 Main St" encoded in message

Thanks for the response Daniel!

If `.profile` is sourced before `fish.config`, wouldn't the following
line[1] overwrite any existing contents of PATH:

    set -gx PATH ~/bin/(hostname) ~/bin /usr/local/bin /usr/bin \
        /bin /sbin /usr/sbin

I guess I still have quite a bit of reading ahead of me to understand
how the pieces come together in this case.

Hey Drew, thanks for writing this up!

I'm currently trying this approach myself because the way I currently
manage my dotfiles is kind of overkill.

One thing I was wondering about with your configuration: To display your
fish shell prompt you have the `prompt` executable in their respective
architecture folders (e.g. `~/bin/x86_64/`). However, you don't seem to
put `~/bin/(uname -m)` to your PATH in your `config.fish` but in your
`~/.profile`. Does your fish shell somehow respect the contents of
`.profile`? (And if so, how?)
