I'm very happy to announce the release of python-eris version
1.0.0. python-eris is a Python implementation of ERIS.

To install python-eris with pip:

```
pip install eris
```

python-eris implements the ERIS encoding as well as the CoAP transfer
protocol [0]. It is compatible with the recently announced ERIS Go
server [1].

The motivation of the Python implementation is to develop plugins for
existing software such as beets [2], Picard [3] and Funkwhale [4], as
well as to facilitate the usage of ERIS for Python users. We look
forward to hearing about your hacks.

We would also like to thank the NLnet Foundation for supporting the
development of python-eris via the NGI Assure Fund [5].
