I think the ⟨æ⟩ needs to be shifted a touch to the right for the curve
of the ⟨e⟩ to feel right with the curve of the ⟨@⟩. Otherwise, I like it
a lot :-).

I love this! I particularly like the white-on-black logo because Aerc
runs in a terminal, but I think they are both great.

I have refined the curves a bit and made the logo square.

Hi all,
I have made another variant of the logo which should be usable as an XDG
icon and possibly for website logos, etc.
http://files.diabeteman.com/aerc-logo-v3.svg
By the way, we did not decide on the contest conditions/rules. How
should we proceed?

Uhhh! pretty! Could you make it square?

To be honest, I expected at least three contestants… I can make a poll
again.

Oh I love this. I do think the SVG version could stand to have a
slightly bolder font-face (or however you would refer to making the
characters a bit *thicker*) and being more squared off. Just my
thoughts :)

Done: http://files.diabeteman.com/aerc-logo-v4.svg
Maybe the text is now too big, I could scale it down a bit compared to
the mini terminal background.
How about something like this?

A bit, yeah. It seemed a little to generic, like perhaps could have been
a styled Arch Linux thing or something. I added the curve at the top,
and the little flick curve at the bottom, just to kinda go with the
curvyness of the letters of "aerc".

Fair enough. Maybe I'll try some other time. I had in mind some kind of
curvy fountain pen style "A" with that flick. Again, something unique.
btw, I like Robin's v2 the most out of all his versions. v4's coloured
inner borders not particularly.

I have made a v5 with a gray logo to render well on both light and dark
backgrounds. And an icon version enclosed in a mini terminal.

What do you all think?
Could someone submit at least a third proposition so we can have a vote
:)
Thanks all!

+1

This fails W3C’s content-accessibility guidelines (WCAG) for color
contrast. The WCAG specifies that colors must (AA) have at least a 4.5∶1
contrast ratio, but should (AAA) have at least a 7∶1 ratio.
Unfortunately, though, this design has a 3.95∶1 ratio.

I love this. (also it has a ratio of 4.72∶1, which is ok)

Sorry, I don't have any ideas for another icon, but I'd just like to say
that I think the v4 "terminal" looks better than the v5, especially if
it's going to be a small icon.
Can we also have a vote for the colour of the background? I'm quite
partial to purple :)
