Hello, this email is not meant to ask for any behaviour change or
explanation or apology but just to state a position.

The above ticket was opened today and the response was pretty curt. I
don't really have an opinion one way or the other about the actual time
on it, but as a paying customer I would appreciate a more traditional
customer service etiquette. If I were to post that item and got that
response, it would not have increased my loyalty. It also provides a
stumbling block when I try to convince other people to become paying
customers. If they were to come upon that ticket ask me what's the deal
with the tone, I wouldn't be able to defend it.
If the goals of the project are different than what I am assuming then
disregard this.

I would not response the same. I don't know anything about Brave and
my comment doesn't really have much to do with the Brave..

Step one then would probably be learning about it. Then you'd
probably understand why this is getting the reaction it is.

How is Brave Rewards a ponzi scheme?

I don't think this thread is the correct place to debate Brave. My comment really has nothing to do with brave but just expressing my personal expectations as a paying customer.
I know it's probably not a huge number of users so it may not weigh that
heavily on your decision making, but I'd also like to second this. I've
had at least one person that I can't get using Sourcehut because they've
seen several comments like this and are just worried that it will create
a bigger cultural problem in the ecosystem going forward and that they
won't be able to get proper support when things go wrong.
Thanks for your consideration.

I agree. There's a right way to respond to people submitting tickets,
and it's not with swearing. I can start to understand if someone's being
persistently in bad faith, but this person seemed to genuinely want to
contribute, and didn't deserve the response.

If harsh language scares cryptocurrency enthusiasts off of the platform,
then the platform will be better for it. This is by design. You're
welcome.
Seriously, I have a zero tolerance policy for cryptocurrency garbage. I
will consider almost any feature in earnest, except for anything related
to cryptocurrency. It is a disease and it has no place on this website
or even on this planet.
I acknowledge that I have been abrasive on other matters in the past,
and have been cognisant of this for a while and have taken pains to be
more courteous. But, not on this matter, and never.

I understand that, but I also think that it's not a good idea to be this
abrasive. This person was just trying to make a contribution in good
faith. They may have ideas beyond Brave that would benefit sr.ht, and
now won't submit them.

There's never an excuse to not be courteous, in my opinion.

I agree, my friend that I was mentioning agrees with your stance on
Cryptocurrencies (as do I), but they don't know that your abrasive
responses are limited to them if they stumble upon this issue, it's just
going to look bad and make it harder for me to get them to move over and
contribute to my projects on Sourcehut, regardless of whom its directed
at or whether they agree with your stance or not.

I don't disagree with the sentiment directed at the crypto people.
But my two cents would be that if such language was regularly
showing up on issue trackers I was subscribed to, or mailing lists
I was part of, I would rather find other projects to contribute to
than continue to run into it.

As somebody who can appreciate and occasionally enjoy strong technical
opinions and harsh language, that part doesn't bother me all that
much.
As somebody who didn't know what Brave is and noticed a ticket closed
like that with no further explanation (which backfires when it then
wastes a bunch more peoples' time asking for elaboration and
discussion), I'd be inclined to second guess how much I want to
support a person or platform who might be a dismissive asshole to me
if I have what he thinks is a "dumb question". For people who didn't
already know what the big deal was, that's what it looked like. I
really don't want to pile on, but I think it might be constructive to
hear this from folks.
