Hey folks!

I'm starting to plan for FennelConf 2023. I don't have a date nailed
down yet, but I'm hoping for a Saturday in mid-to-late December.

If you have been doing anything fun or interesting with Fennel over the
past year, please think about whether you could present.

You can sign up for a 10-15 minute slot for shorter things, or a
30-minute slot if you've got a lot to talk about.

We don't have any expectations that speakers give particularly polished
or smooth talks; we value enthusiasm more than traditional public
speaking skills. In fact, unless you specifically think that slides will
help get your point across, I recommend you skip them.

If you have an idea for a talk, please email me off-list with a title
and an estimated length. If you're not sure, email me anyway, and we can
talk it thru!

thanks,
Phil

That sounds really exciting; they have been most enjoyable in previous
years. Could I perhaps suggest hosting the event this time on a
different day to Saturday? The monthly Fennel User Group meet-up video
conferences are also on Saturdays, so an alternative day for the
FennelConf might be appreciated by those who are at work or have other
commitments on that day.

As usual, I myself will be up for some festive Fennelling, so thank you
for taking the time to once again plan this event!

Best wishes,

Sebastian

Oh shoot; I forgot to mention this but I was thinking that FennelConf
would replace the Fennel User Group for the month of December.

Hey folks!

We have decided on the 30th of December as the day for FennelConf this year.

https://conf.fennel-lang.org/2023

We've got a few talks lined up, but we still have room for one or two
more; if you have an idea for something to present, please let me know!

Just a reminder this is happening tomorrow!

Looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

Forgot to include the link, but we will be using the same Jitsi as we do
for the monthly meetups:

https://meet.jit.si/FennelUserGroup

(The site has been updated to reflect it, but just to be extra clear.)

My bad; I got that wrong. The conference will be streamed at this URL:

https://live.emacsconf.org/fennelconf-2023.html

We can use the Jitsi link above if there's issues with the emacsconf stream,
but please use the emacsconf one by default unless you are a speaker.

Hey everyone!

We had a great FennelConf last Saturday, and I just recently finished
cutting and uploading the videos for the talks. All seven are live now:

https://conf.fennel-lang.org/2023

* Jeremy Penner - Garden: using Fennel to generate Terra to generate machine code
* Andrey Listopadov - Fennel Async at its Core
* HiPhish - Fennel REPL in Neovim
* Rudolf Adamkovič / Michael Mee - Building native mobile apps with Fennel
* Jeremy Penner - Consoom!: writing a simple Playdate game in a data-driven style
* Phil Hagelberg - Every Fennel Codebase Ever*

Thanks to all the presenters, and also to Amin Bandali for helping with
the video streaming and recording.

Enjoy!

-Phil
