Mutt sucks, aerc crashes. I know, I was warned, I tried I am ranting. My
problem, I am just sharing my problems without any hate.

Crashes, freezes and annoyances 12 days ago

From Vladimír Dudr to ~sircmpwn/aerc

Hi,

aerc has some problem with multiple selected messages. When trying to
mark cca. 100 messages as read it freezes ui completely. When trying to
delete more then cca 50 messages from IMAP folder it crashes. Maybe
there is some correlation with selecting messages via PgUp and PgDown.

Just random rants, in case someone cares about them:

At this moment Aerc is that much unstable that I will revert back to
Mutt probably soon. There are minor issues...
Like using external pager for mail viewing just doesn't work for me,
aerc grabs some keys so I cannot use "-S" in less, without remapping one
program or other. Not good default I'd say.

References header 13 days ago

From Vladimír Dudr to ~sircmpwn/aerc

Hi,

Aerc doesn't respect References headers and ignores them when replying.
That can cause threads not being displayed properly on receiver's email
clients. Also RFCs 2822 and 5322 says that they SHOULD be added when
repalying.

Is there any reason for that?

Cheers,
Vladimir

Mime version a month ago

From Vladimír Dudr to ~sircmpwn/aerc

Hi,

it looks like aerc doesn't add MIME-Version header to mime email.

According to RFC 2045, this should be added whenever one uses MIME.
Aerc adds Content-Type, which means it should add MIME-Version also to
prevent sent emails getting extra spam score.

Cheers,

Vladimir

Hi,

I just think, that STARTTLS is not possible on port 993, and that google
supports only explicit TLS. So use IMAPS, and you should be fine.
