It's been a while since 0.4.0 was released, but now it's time for
v0.5.0!
Development on rss-email has admittedly stalled a bit, but this is
expected because the project isn't big and I consider it essentially
feature complete.
Nevertheless, there were a bunch of changes since 0.4.0! First, let me
thank Hugo for contributing again! As always, I'm very happy to see any
patches landing on the rss-email-devel list.
First off it's important to say that, since 0.4.0, the versioning scheme
changed: Git tags for versions are now tagged with a "v" prefix, i.e.
v0.5.0. This change was introduced with the release of v0.4.2
(2023-02-20).
The following notable changes were made since 0.4.0:
* rss-email.1 is updated to include the correct path for the cache
* Update the getrandom dependency to allow compilation for musl targets
* Add a Makefile for easier packaging downstream (Thanks, Hugo!)
* The manual pages are reworked to more closely follow the conventions
for manual pages
* Log levels of SQL statements and rustls are changed to trace to avoid
cluttering the log output
* If an RSS post is missing the GUID then the URL is taken as a fallback
* Add an option to use STARTTLS for SMTP connections
No manual intervention should be required since 0.4.0.
If you found some bugs, want to contribute a patch, have any questions
or comments about rss-email, feel free to send an email to
`~witcher/rss-email-devel@lists.sr.ht`.
Thank your for using rss-email and following its development. I hope it
keeps being just as useful to you as it is to me!
